BASIC EDUCATION PROGRAM: Scholarship

This project will support poor, disadvantaged children ages 6-12 in areas most affected by the earthquake. Scholarships will cover: annual admission fees, exam fees, stationary, school uniforms, shoes, bags, water bottles and extracurricular activities. This program 
focuses on helping children whose families are not financially capable of paying for education and to address the high dropout rates by bringing kids back to school.

$350 – Educate one child for one year
$1,000 – Educate three children for one year
$5,000 – Sponsor five families and send all of their children to school

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT: Foundation

This project is designed to establish Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centers to support children ages 3-5. The ECD Centers will run 6 days a week and provide education, recreation, snacks and mid-day meals for children. Our team and local community will be involved in regularly monitoring and supervising the centers so there is a feeling of ownership amongst the whole community. This project is expected to support ECD graduates with enrollment in various local schools.

AFTER SCHOOL ACTIVITIES: Keti Klaba, Sports

The Keti Klaba (Girl’s Club) is an after school program for girls ages 8-12 (end of primary school). We chose this age group because it is the point where girls are most likely to discontinue schooling. These clubs provide girls with strong role models, incentives to stay in school, opportunities to build self-esteem, to identify and address problems in their own community, and most of all, to have fun together.
